1.At the start of the game, you will see a chess board with the pieces arranged in their starting positions. Each player has 16 pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns.
2.The goal of the game is to put your opponent's king in "checkmate", which means that the king is under attack and cannot escape capture on the next move.
3.On each turn, you can move one of your pieces according to its specific rules. The king can move one square in any direction, while the queen can move in any direction along a straight line.
